The first felts have originated from Eurasia. Local rovers wore felts, which were called pimas. The history thereof reaches over 1.5 thousand years. Felts came to Russia from the State of Golden Horde (it was a semi-nomad Mongolian state, which existed in 13-16-th ages. It has occupied huge territories in Eastern Europe and Siberia). Felt entrepreneurship was born in Central Russia, when sheep farming expanded. It was a hard manual work, and the technology of manufacturing was kept in secrecy and transferred from one generation to another.
Ancient felts were considered a valuable present; it was a matter of prestige to have felts. A potential groom, who had felts, meant a successful party. And a family, which had at least one pair of felt boots, was considered wealthy. Such footwear was worn in a family according to the “rank”, it was passed from one generation to another. Also the Great Russian rulers wore felt boots. The historical sources of Russia mention that felt boots saved Russian worriers fighting against Napoleon, Hitler. In ancient times, such footwear was worn not only in winters, but also in summers. Whereas wool fully protects not only against cold, but also against heat. Felt will never deform a foot. The healing qualities of felt are also well known. Wool activates blood circulation (felt boots should be worn on bare feet).
